Fishing at Glenlowren

Catch and Unwind – Fishing at Glenlowren

If you’re looking for a relaxing way to enjoy the natural beauty of Glenlowren, fishing is an ideal way to connect with the outdoors. Whether you’re an experienced angler or just want to spend a quiet afternoon by the water, Glenlowren offers a peaceful spot to cast a line.

Fishing at Glenlowren’s Big Dam

The best place to fish at Glenlowren is the large dam near the Settler’s Cottage. It is stocked with rainbow trout and yellow belly, both known for their excellent flavour and popularity with fishing enthusiasts. The tranquil waters of the dam offer a relaxing setting, perfect for unwinding by the water.

As the dam is close to the Settler’s Cottage, an adults-only accommodation, guests from the Farmstead and Nissen Hut are kindly asked to respect the privacy of Cottage guests by keeping a considerate distance. If guests are present at the Cottage, please choose a fishing spot an appropriate distance away to ensure everyone enjoys a peaceful experience. Additionally, children must be supervised by an adult at all times while near the dam for safety reasons and to help maintain a quiet, relaxing environment.

What You Need to Know

  • Bring Your Own Gear: Guests will need to bring their own fishing gear. Pack your rod, tackle, and bait for the best experience.
  • Fishing for All Skill Levels: Whether you’re an expert angler or trying it for the first time, the dam is the perfect place to cast your line. Fishing here is a fun way to enjoy the countryside during your stay.
  • Unstocked Wetlands: Although the wetlands near the Nissen Hut offer stunning scenery and are perfect for nature walks, they aren’t stocked with fish.
